President’s Updates

Dear Friends of Pacific Theological Seminary

Greetings in our Lord’s Name! One year ago, as professor, I was asked by our Pacific Seminary Board to add the role of president. What a privilege to serve in and through this community! Mindful of quality teaching, we identified four issues vital to continued ministry:       

Full ATS Accreditation. Led by the expertise of Johanna Knutson and Sharon Tan, we have submitted all needed documentation to bring an October campus visit by Association of Theological Schools reps. This represents a major step in recognition and recruitment.

Home Campus. The building-space we’ve leased since inception went up for sale. Prayers answered: it was purchased by a newly-formed Christian LLC – bringing in the “Amazing Church” as a third congregation. They needed library space for outreach. So, led by Mariel Deluca Voth, faculty identified vital books to retain, then volunteers from many churches downsized the library by packing 1,000 boxes for global distribution by Theological Book Network!

Financial Stability.  In recent months, one-time and ongoing gifts have positioned Pacific Seminary to enter Fall term and 2027 well. Led by Art Benjamin, support is an ongoing need and you’re invited to our next Donors & Friends gathering on Nov. 8. Watch for details - as ongoing gifts meet on-going needs, let’s follow God’s GPS: give, pray and serve!                                                                                     

Team Building. I am often touched by the skills and devotion of both faculty and staff. Our shared values are “Jesus” (spiritual formation) “Bible” (sound theology) and “Mission” (contextual use of gifts). Since 2022 some 160 students have been blessed by teachers often bi-vocational, ever devoted to love of God, family and neighbor.
