Things That Unite Us

Unity among God’s people is an important and recurring theme in scripture.

In Psalm 133:1, the psalmist declares: “How good and pleasant it is for God’s people to dwell together in unity.” (NIV).

In the closing days of His earthly ministry, as recorded in John Chapter 17, Jesus prayed earnestly for the unity of His disciples and for all those who would subsequently come to believe in Him through their witness: “Father, I pray….. that they may be one…”

In his first letter to the Corinthians, the Apostle Paul pleads: “that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.”

At Pacific Seminary, we strive to be an example of such unity.

As a community of Christ-followers representing a broad spectrum of Christian backgrounds, traditions and denominational affiliations, we find that such diversity serves to generate a stimulating and energized environment of challenging instruction, engaging debate and honest inquiry. Classes, discussions and interpersonal interactions between students, faculty and staff resonate with a sense of empathy, encouragement and mutual respect. This climate of intellectual inquiry, spiritual sensitivity and regard for others draws us together as we grow in relationship with Christ and one another. We unite around the essentials, upholding the authority of the Bible as God’s infallible word, honoring the redemptive work of Christ, and committing ourselves to pursuing the mandate of the Great Commission to preach the Gospel and make disciples.

This Holy Week as we pause to reflect on Christ’s atoning work on the cross and His triumphant victory over sin and death, it is our prayer that you will experience the power of His resurrection in new and more meaningful ways, and that you will also discover the joy and spiritual fulfillment that comes from living in unity with other members of the Body of Christ.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” 1 Peter 1:3

We also pray that you would consider supporting the work of Pacific Seminary in preparing leaders to serve and equip Christ’s Church in carrying out His Great Commission. Your ongoing partnership in this ministry is both essential and greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for standing with us as we move forward in obedience to His calling.
